TRAINING OF CADETS
To cater to the shortage of seafarers globally and the demand to produce quality seafarers,
NYK SHIPMANAGMENT has been recruiting cadets to mould them into future officers.
NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT hires and trained cadets who will serve as the officers
of the future in its fleet. We enjoy close ties with merchant marine academies throughout
the world, and sponsor NYK Special Classes in many of them. In the past, we have hired cadets
primarily from the Philippines, but from 2006 onward, we plan to expand hiring to other
parts of the world.
At present NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT is recruiting cadets from best of the colleges from
different countries of the world like Phillipines, India, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine,
China, Vietnam, Russia, Indonesia and Bangladesh.
A cadet on ship will master the skills required for certification as a navigator
or engineer. Cadets are assigned to NYK ships, where they receive training and
acquire certification, after which they may be hired as navigators or engineers by NYK.
NYK conducts following training for our cadets.
- On board Training to obtain COC required by STCW
- Inculcate royalty and give the motivation
- Train NYK’s safety & environmental Policy
- Train NYK special criteria and requirements
- Train NYK special requirement for safety cargo operation or Engine room management
