The Maritime Training Centre was officially opened on 27 November 2006 by Mr. Raymond
Lim, Minister for Transport and second Minister of Foreign Affairs, Singapore and
Mr. Koji Miyahara, NYK President.
NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT Training Centre aims to enhance the skill and knowledge
of our qualified seafarers. It is equipped with full mission bridge simulator, diesel
remote control simulator, hydraulic simulator, automation simulator and liquid cargo
handling simulator for conducting training specific to particular ships, equipment
and trades for current officers and engineers serving on board NYKSM managed and
manned vessels.
The establishment of this training center will assist NYK in meeting the requirement
of forming a competent group of seafarers to man an NYK fleet that is expected to
grow to 930 by 2010. By investing in HRs, NYKSM intends to provide first-class service
to its customers and fulill its corporate social responsibility.
