Three Singapore Flagged Vessels under NYKSM’s Management meet Requirement of Green ship Programme

On January 2020, three Singapore flagged vessels under our management, namely M/V Takaroa Sun, M/V Tangguh Batur and M/V Tangguh Towuti have been confirmed of meeting the requirements of Green Ship Programme (GSP) by Maritime and Port Authority Singapore (MPA).

GSP is one of the three programmes under the Martine Singapore Green Initiative. The key principle of the GSP is to reward ship owners who voluntarily adopt solutions that enable ships to exceed environmental regulatory standards mandated by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

The MPA organises a Singapore Registry of Ships (SRS) Forum annually. This year the Forum was held on 3 November 2020.

As part of this year’s event schedule, the MPA awarded Green Ship certificates for Singapore-registered ships which have been accorded the Green Ship status in the past year.

The following ships managed by NYKSM have been accorded the Green Ship status in the past year, and so were awarded the highly coveted Green Ship certificates:

The certificates were presented by Mr Goh Chung Hun, Director of Shipping, MPA to Capt Hisaya Higuchi, Chairman & CEO of NYKSM. (Please see attached photograph).

We thank our principals and staff for their co-operation which enabled this achievement and assure the SRS & MPA of our continuous efforts for preventing harm to the environment in accordance with NYK Line’s commitment towards enhancement of the Group’s Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance (ESG).

NYKSM will continue to make our best effort to manage environmental risks to contribute to a sustainable society.
